IBBY-Yamada 2009: Indonesia

This workshop for picture-book illustration was aimed at improving people's interest in children's picture books, especially those books that are related to Indonesian culture and heritage, such as folktales, legend and myths.  The participants were teachers, novice illustrators, children book experts, publishers and students. 

The general aim of the workshop was to:

• give insight to the participants about the important elements and criteria of good picture books illustration.
• stimulate the publishing of good quality children's picture books with high levels of illustration.
• raise the government's and publishers' attention to publishing good quality children's picture books.

The workshop was designed to enlarge the participants' vision and improve their skills and included basic knowledge of the picture-book role in children's education; how the artwork element in picture book could be enhanced and at the same time relate to the text.
