IBBY-Yamada 2023: Armenia

Defenders of every child’s right to become a reader: the great role librarians’ in creating readers

This project is built on the statement that libraries is a comprehensive and effective institution in fostering social interactions, and the key role of librarians in improving and developing a reading cultural among children and youth. On this grounds, IBBY Armenia organized a training course for local librarians to familiarize them with modern tools and the latest information in the field of information dissemination. The course was conducted by Zohreh Ghaeni, children’s literature expert, translator, lecturer, researcher and historian from Iran. During three days, 25 local librarians received training on diverse topics including cultural literacy, building a child-centered literacy environment in libraries, independent and dialogic reading, and bibliotherapy, among others. The training also included guidelines and materials issued by IBBY partner institutions competent in librarianship, including IFLA and UNESCO.
