IBBY-Yamada 2021: Zimbabwe
IBBY Zimbabwe: Stories to mitigate the Covid-19 social distancing requirements, recorded on CDs and circulated to schools for children and young people.
During the pandemic, IBBY Zimbabwe explored several ideas for learning that met social distance requirements. This project involved recording stories in Shona, Ndebele and English to be distributed to partners and played to children by teachers in schools, librarians and parents. The goal was to produce four master CDs, each with eight stories of five minutes – two master CDs for children 3 to 12 years and two for 13 to 17-year-olds. The stories will be on traditional themes cast as fables, such as courtship and marriage but also on contemporary themes of gender and environment.
