IBBY Indonesia: Trauma healing for children affected by flooding and earthquake in Indonesia
In 2018, INABBY held a successful workshop on trauma healing for activists of community libraries in the Ring of Fire region. The aim of the 2020 project was to hold a similar workshop in three areas of Indonesia that have been hit by natural disasters in 2019: South East Sulawesi (flooding), Kalimantan (flooding) and Papua Island (earthquake). The workshop introduced various techniques of bibliotherapy, including storytelling to children and ways to encourage them to recount their experiences, book making, reading and dramatization. The workshop was intended for about 15 participants to take place in May or June on Bali, but due to the pandemic restrictions it was held as a Zoom online conference during December 2020.
