The Hans Christian Andersen Award Jury 2006
At its recent meeting in Bologna, the IBBY Executive Committee elected the international Jury for the 2006 awards.. The Jury comprises ten members nominated by the National Sections of IBBY. The candidates for the 2006 Awards, also nominated by the National Sections of IBBY, will be announced in June 2005. The Jury will meet in March 2006 to select the winners. The results will be announced at the IBBY Press Conference at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair, 27 March 2006. The awards will be presented to the winners at the 30th IBBY Conference in Beijing, China, 20 September 2006. The jury will work under the chairmanship of Jeffrey Garrett (Evanston, IL, USA). IBBY President Peter Schneck and IBBY Director of communications and project development María Candelaria Posada are ex officio members of the Jury.
The ten members of the Hans Christian Andersen Award Jury 2006 are as follows:
- Vasja Cerar, editor for teenage fiction at Mladinski Knjiga in Ljubljana, Slovenia
- Isabelle Nières-Chevrel, professor of general and comparative literatures at the University of Rennes, France
- Lona Gericke, a children’s librarian from Bellville, South Africa, and a member of the the Executive of SACBF, the South African Children’s Book Forum.
- Grazia Gotti, cofounder of the Giannino Stoppani children’s bookstore in Bologna, Italy.
- Maija Korhonen, head of the children’s department at Kallio Branch Library, Helsinki, Finland
- Angela Lebedeva, senior lecturer in children’s literature at the Sholohov University of Education in Moscow and executive director of IBBY Russia.
- Bill Nagelkerke, coordinator of children’s and young adult services at Christchurch City Library, New Zealand
- Parnaz Nayeri, children’s book reviewer and translator in Tehran, Iran
- María Cecilia Silva-Diaz of Caracas, Venezuela, currently editor at Ediciones Ekaré in Barcelona.
- Junko Yokota, professor of reading language arts at National Louis University, Chicago, and past president of USBBY.
