IBBY Argentina: Books for children at hospital - The world is health: stories and tales in the hospital
The world is health: stories and tales in the hospital is a project to seeks to make available books especially tailored to the needs of children in hospital. Together with the paediatric unit of the Hospital E. Tornú, ALIJA established small libraries and introduced the methods of bibliotherapy. The target groups were: children between 1 and 6 years old with delays in development, including speech development and children between 7 and 11 years going through situations of family violence that could be helped by books and bibliotherapy. In addition, the health teams were taught the value of a book culture. The project included games, rhymes and song as well as music therapy for children, initially held inside the hospital and then outdoors, as part of the project, Park of the Village.
